Accessibility is for everyone

National seminar 6.-7.5.2009. in Valkea talo (The Light House), Ilkantie 4, Haaga, 00400 Helsinki.

    Seminar themes are:

    1. Diversity in learning - teaching and learning material
    2. Equality and accessibility in HEIs.
    3. Experiences and possibilities in improving the accessibility in HEIs.


    The presentations and panel discussion on May 6th will be held in Finnish and English. Parallel seminars on May 7th will be held in Finnish, English and Swedish.

    Wednesday 6th May

    10.00 – 10.15 Welcome words: ESOK project.

    10.15 – 10.30 Opening adresses: Birgitta Vuorinen,Ministry of Education.

    10.30 – 10.45 Opening adresses: Kaisa Alanne, The Finnish Association of the Deaf .

    10.45 – 11.15 Accessible HE in Sweden: Seija Hiltunen, Stockholm University.

    11.15 – 11.45 Universal design in Higher education development process: Anne Nylund, National Coordinator for Accessibility in Higher Education in Norway.

    11.45 – 12.15 Higher Education Accessibility and Equal Opportunities in England: Alan Hurst.

    12.15 – 14.00 Lunch break and Assistive Technology exhibition.

    14.00 – 14.30 Comments, The Student Unions (The Union of Students in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences SAMOK and The National Union of Students in Finland SYL).

    Costs

    The seminar,  conference dinner and exhibition are free for the participants. Restaurant in the Light House offers lunch for the price of 8,70 €.

    Accommodation

    A quota for 40 rooms has been reserved from Best Western Hotel Haaga for seminar participants. Quota is due to April 14th.
